BLOOMINGTON, Ill -- The food services manager at Home Sweet Home Ministries says their food bank demand is ever-increasing.
The food center in Bloomington supplies underprivileged families with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners each year.
This year the ministry says demand has already more than doubled and the 50 turkeys the agency has now is not enough for both holiday's.
"Those 50 turkeys will last ten minutes when the line opens up at one o'clock, so we're really behind on turkeys," Food Services Manager Carol Ann Carara explains. "Last night we gave away all of our hams that we had set aside for Christmas, because we ran out of turkeys so fast."
Carara believes people who regularly donate may have been distracted by the election year.
Home Sweet Home Ministries is in need of anything typically served at a Thanksgiving dinner.
