BLOOMINGTON Ill -- The City of Bloomington held the official Swearing-in Ceremony to welcome newly elected Mayor, Tari Renner and a new group of aldermen.

Former Bloomington Mayor Steve Stockton said he is confident in the new council moving forward.

"We have a city that is now renewed and healthy," said Stockton. "It's a great time to do some things to make life better for all of our citizens. I'm sure this council is set on doing that right away."

Meanwhile, Mayor Renner said he is ready to go to work, with many plans already in progress.

"We are putting together a plan to fix our streets to float a bond, so we won't be raising taxes," said Mayor Renner. "I'm also looking for a budgetary plan to fund our pensions without raising taxes. We're going to be able to make some substantial differences and still live within our means."

Renner added that he will be holding the city's first ever Mayoral open-house at Bloomington City Hall on Friday, May 10th.

Everyone in the city is invited to come and talk to the mayor about various issues in the community.
