BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Bloomington Police have arrested a man in connection with the armed robberies of two area gas stations.

Police said Joseph L. Rogers, 43, entered the Freedom Oil gas station at 1402 S. Main around 9:20 p.m Tuesday. He walked directly to the counter, displayed a weapon and demanded money from the cash drawer.

Police believe Rogers then changed his clothes and robbed another gas station just before 4:30 a.m. That incident happened at the Huck's gas station at 2401 S. Main.

In the second robbery, Rogers allegedly asked the clerk for cigarettes before brandishing a weapon and demanding cash.

In both instances, Rogers was seen fleeing the area in an older white Dodge Caravan.

Rogers is being held in the McLean County Jail on $200,000 bond.
