Bloomington officer on paid administrative leave following DUI crash

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A Bloomington Police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following a DUI crash.

Officer Troy Doza, 45, was arrested by Illinois State Police after his car left the roadway near the intersection of Fox Creek Road and Springfield Road in Bloomington just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning. The car hit a utility pole before overturning.

Doza was off duty at the time of the crash. He was transported to OSF St. Joseph with minor injuries. He faces charges of driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

Bloomington Police requested an investigation into the incident be conducted by the Illinois State Police.

BPD said they will be conducting a separate internal investigation into the incident.
