Bloomington says 'no dice' to video gaming parlors

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The City of Bloomington said no dice when it came to opening up video gaming parlors in the city.

Monday, the city council passed an amendment banning those potential parlors.

The amendment requires that businesses receive their primary income from another source besides video gaming machines.

"That amendment does specifically state," said City Manager David Hales, "now that a liquor license would not be issued if the sole intent is to establish a video gaming parlor where there is no food, there's no other drink, there's no other entertainment associated with that."

The State of Illinois allows bars, restaurants, and truck stops to operate up to five gaming machines per establishment.
