BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The city of Bloomington is estimated to save about $85,000 a year on electricity costs over the next three years after a recent deal.
The city began using an energy broker, Stone River Group, to help negotiate lower energy costs. The lowest bidder was Integrys Energy Services, Inc.
“We are pleased that this bidding process will realize significant cost savings for the City of Bloomington,” explains City Manager David Hales.
Facilities covered by the new agreement include City Hall, the water treatment plant, the police station, and others.
The cost estimate is based off of energy costs for the past 12 months ending in March.
Stone River Group is paid per kilowatt hour by the electric provider, with no cost to the city.
