BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The City of Bloomington Water Department reports that the first drought trigger action level was reached Monday.

A combined deficit of eight feet below the spillway levels of Evergreen Lake and Lake Bloomington triggered the "moderate drought warning".

The City of Bloomington is calling for voluntary efforts to reduce water consumption by five percent.

Bloomington Water Director Craig Cummings says Bloomington residents have already cut back about 15-percent of their water consumption because of the drought.
