CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- With the bitter cold, many are turning up the heat to try and keep warm.

But the Citizen's Utility Board says you may not have to do that if you follow some simple tips.

Only heat the rooms that you use the most, and close doors to rooms you aren't using.

Seal up leaks in your home so heat doesn't escape outside.

Help circulate the air by turning on your ceiling fan.

Also, try running the fan clockwise to pull warm air down from the ceiling.
