Unidentified man's death investigated as a homicide

KAPPA, Ill. -- Autopsy results reveal a man, whose torso was found in the Mackinaw River Saturday, died of injuries inflicted on him by another person.

At this time the victim is only identified as a middle-aged Caucasian man. The McLean County Coroner said the man had undergone bypass surgery at some point.

The victim's torso was pulled from the Mackinaw river near Kappa, Ill. on Saturday after a fisherman reported finding possible human remains.

The coroner said there are no local missing persons cases at this time and that the death is being investigated as a homicide.
