BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A man was found dead near a Bloomington gas station early Tuesday morning.

Bloomington police say a homeless person discovered the body on the northwest side of a gas station at 1901 W. Market.

The McLean County Coroner's office confirms the body is that of 45 year-old Robert Allan Crum. Crum did not have a current, legal address but was formally of Heyworth.

Authorities say they believe the man was sleeping near a guard rail when he was hit by a semi truck that left the scene. They say it is likely the vehicle never saw the victim nor felt any impact.

The coroner's office confirms Crum died from multiple injuries of the chest, abdomen and pelvis due to being struck by a motor vehicle. Toxicology tests have been ordered.

There were no witnesses to the incident and the exact time of the incident is unknown.

This incident is still under investigation by Bloomington authorities and the McLean County Coroner's Office.
