PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria and West Peoria residents are no longer under a boil order.
An Illinois American Water lifted the boil order just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The boil order was in effect for customers who temporarily lost water service or water pressure as a result of the water main break at the intersection of NE Jefferson Avenue and Abington Street on Monday.
Water service was restored to most customers of Monday afternoon.
According to Illinois American Water, water quality tests have confirmed the water is safe to drink. It is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking.
