BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A local legislator is taking a break from politics and lending his voice to spread holiday cheer.
State Representative Dan Brady is starring in the Pantagraph's Holiday Spectacular.
Tuesday night, the cast and crew gathered for a dress rehearsal.
While it may be surprising for some to see the republican in the limelight, Brady says his performance has become a holiday tradition.
"I think it's nice that it gives a little reprieve from the pressure of the political side of things," said Brady. "And people knowing you from one angle and that respect and saying 'hey, he has a different façade he can put on once in a while, and then he can also actually be himself and do a little theatre.'"
Opening night of the Holiday Spectacular is Friday at 7:30 p.m., with additional shows on Saturday and Sunday.
