ELMWOOD, Ill. – The Knox County Sheriff confirms Debra McCawley, 53, has died.

Police spent much of the day, Tuesday, searching for McCawley and her Dark Blue PT Cruiser.

McCawley allegedly shot her father in the back Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened at 9406 N. Cedar Bluff Road. The rural home is located just about three miles north west of the City of Elmwood. It has an Elmwood mailing address, but is located in Peoria County's jurisdiction.

The Peoria County Sheriff's Department will only identify the victim as a 79-year-old white male.

However, property records list the owner of the home as Gene Kennedy.

An official at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria confirms that a patient named Gene Kennedy was treated and released on Tuesday morning.

At this point, investigators aren't saying why this may have happened and refuse to release any other details.
