EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Fashion, hope, strength, and vision all took center stage Friday, in celebration of those battling breast cancer.
Hundreds gathered at the Par-A-Dice Hotel in East Peoria for the first Pink Promise Celebration.
The event featured a fashion show and luncheon.
Hitting the runway, 26 models showcased fashions from around the area, and more importantly their battle with breast cancer.
"There is a woman today that is just struggling to be here," said Paige Dierker, Co-Chair of the Pink Promise Celebration. "She is a very young woman, who will be modeling hopefully. She is here, actually, laying on the floor. I think her story and the story of every woman who is fighting this battle is worth hearing every time we can tell it."
The model that Dierker is speaking of is Elizabeth Grant. She did make it to the runway, and received a standing ovation.
Pink Promise is a branch of the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate.
The $15,000 raised Friday will stay within the Central Illinois community.
