PEORIA, Ill. -- It was no ordinary Super Bowl Sunday for one local couple. On Sunday, Jared O'Brien showed why he won Bremer Jewelry's MVP, as in Most Valuable Proposal.

Inside Last Chance Bar and Grill, Superbowl fans are eating, drinking, and oh yeah, getting ready to pop the big question.

Jared O'Brien is proposing to his girlfriend via a Superbowl halftime commercial.

She doesn't know he won Bremer Jewelry's Most Valuable Proposal contest, which gave him the opportunity to record a commercial.

Before we get to her answer, let's tell you a little bit about their story.

O'Brien and his girlfriend Aubrey Rhoades met here, at Last Chance, five and a half years ago, but it was only the beginning.

"I was diagnosed with Lyme disease about two years ago, and she stayed by my side the whole time," said O'Brien. "She's been a lot of help to get me through it and continuing to get me through it."

"I will never leave his side," said Rhoades. "He's amazing. It stinks to see him down, but now that he's getting stronger, it's just awesome."

O'Brien said she has been there for him through thick and thin, in sickness and in health. That's why he entered the contest.

"I've been off work for seven months now," said O'Brien. "I knew I couldn't afford it for her. It's gorgeous, gorgeous. They did a heck of a job with it. It's a lot more than I could have ever imagined."

Did we mention Bremer gave him this A. Jaffe diamond-encrusted engagement ring, for free? Now all he has to do is ask her.

There's about 10 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, and we've been playing off that we've been asking people their take on the Super Bowl commercials.

But really, we're using that as an excuse to mic up Jared and his girlfriend to get their take on that one special commercial that could change their lives forever.

"Of course I said yes!" said Rhoades. "I saw the commercial, and I saw Jared, and I am speechless. I don't even know what to say."

The happy couple still has yet to set the date.

One thing they say they're sure of is expanding their family jewels.

"We're going to get married," said Rhoades. "We're going to have babies. We're going to live happily ever after."
