PEORIA, Ill. -- Summer is the best time of year for most students because they aren't in school.

There is one simple trick that Valeska Hinton Early Childhood Education Center is using to have their students more excited when they return.

In today's Bright Side: "Look. It's My Book! " is a program that encourages students to read over the summer, and Valeska was the final school to be added to the program in District 150.

District 150 and "Look. It's My Book!" started working together in 2008, and are currently helping 4,000 students catch the reading bug.

"We are not raising children by ourselves, it does take a village, it takes a community,” said Peoria School Superintendent Dr. Grenita Lathan. “'Look. It's My Book!' has said ‘look we are going to help raise our children in our village’, and we thank them for that."

Look. It's My Book's partnership with District 150 supplies at least six books to every child in the district, and more than 90,000 books have been given out.
