PEORIA, Ill. -- You can't go wrong with chili dogs and milkshakes any day but especially on this early spring day.
It is a traditional rite of spring in Peoria, Emo's Dairy Mart on Prospect Road is open.
All sales from 5:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday were donated to the Arthritis Foundation's 2014 Peoria Walk to Cure Arthritis.
Even in the cold, happy, spring-loving customers came out to Monday’s opening to help the cause.
"You know it was pretty cold this morning, which is typical,” said Robert Smith, Emo’s co-owner. “Every year we open and it's colder than it's supposed to be but I think everybody's got Spring fever because I think this morning was probably our busiest year out of the four that we've had it."
Emo's sold 3,500 hot dogs Monday morning.
If you want to stop and sample their menu, Emo’s is located at 3618 Prospect Road in Peoria.
