DUNLAP, Ill. -- Some Dunlap students got a special visitor from on Thursday from Charlie the dog.

Paws Giving Independence is a non-profit organization that gives students a chance to learn and play with dogs.

On Thursday, the students read to Charlie, gave him treats and even played some hide-and-seek.

"It helps them focus on something different than themselves,” said Gladys Martin of Paws Giving Independence. “We have students here that have trouble even visiting and when they can give Charlie commands, that's huge for them to even be able to say a couple words."

Charlie visits the students once a week.
