ILLINOIS -- Bruce Rauner won the Republican Gubernatorial primary on Tuesday in a closer than expected race.

Rauner, the favorite going into Tuesday, was challenged heavily by State Sen. Kirk Dillard. The two were within a percentage point most of the night. Dillard conceded shortly after 10:00 p.m.

Also running were State Sen. Bill Brady and Treasurer Dan Rutherford. Rutherford conceded in early Tuesday. His campaign has struggled since he being faced with a sexual harassment lawsuit from a former staffer.

Rauner will now face Governor Pat Quinn in the November 4 election. Quinn easily defeated challenger Tio Hardiman.
