LINCOLN, IL-- Fire officials say broken glass could still fall from the upper floor at 501 Pulaski Street-- known as the Oasis Senior Center building. The building was a bank until it was donated to the city's senior center about 30 years ago.

Clint McGuinnis says he volunteered for the center -- which helped seniors with health problems and legal issues. He and other eyewitnesses say the building was struck by lightning shortly before the fire started

"It looks like we're going to be able to save the building with a new roof and interior and what not," McGuinnis said. "We need this. Lincoln needs this organization."

McGuinnis said he and others would like to see a local business offer a temporary facility until the senior center can be rebuilt.

Lincoln Fire officials have not yet given an official cause of the fire.
