BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- Central Illinois Regional Airport will soon see an influx of cash to enhance their service to two east coast locations.
Senator Dick Durbin and Congressman Aaron Schock announced Tuesday that CIRA will receive a grant of $500,000 to grow their service to either New York or Washington D.C.
They say the grant will benefit the traveling public because, while the twin cities have a large business and educational base, there is currently no nonstop service to any city in the northeast.
The Department of Transportation grant is awarded through the Small Community Air Service Development Program.
