PEORIA, Ill. -- The Heart of Illinois' generosity was evident on Sunday.
The 27th annual Children's Miracle Telethon, which aired on WEEK-TV, wrapped up Sunday Night. Hundreds of volunteers gave their time and talents to help raise money for the Children's Hospital of Illinois, located in Peoria.
The goal was to surpass last year's total of nearly $2.5 million, and they did by a long shot!
Sunday's telethon raised a total of $3,573,918.
"We're very blessed to live in such a giving community here in Peoria and such a giving community in Bloomington-Normal. Those children do use the hospital here at Children's Hospital of Illinois, so we're grateful that the Bloomington-Normal people are able to see that their support also helps here in Peoria and helps kids in their area as well," said Coordinator Susan Skowronski.
It's not too late to donate. If you want to help, call (309) 566-5666 or head to Children's Hospital of Illinois Foundation dot org.
