Canton woman arrested for stealing from grade school

CANTON, Ill. -- A Canton woman remains in the Peoria County Jail charged with stealing money from Bartonville grade school.

Penny Wells, 34, was a bookkeeper for the school. She is accused of taking more than $7,000.

Wells was arrested by Bartonville Police after an investigation showed that money which Wells had been responsible for had not been deposited into the school's bank account.

Wells remains in custody under $15,000 bond.
