PEORIA, Ill. -- A high profile guest helped jump start the 2013 Midwest Truck and Trailer Show.
The Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar Doug Oberhelman welcomed the attendees to the show on Friday.
He told the crowd the on highway industry is important and vital to our country and that there is infrastructure work that needs to be done.
He was also proud to show off the company's new on-highway truck, a service vehicle.
"The on-highway vehicle market transportation industry is a growing market for us. We've been in it for a long time with truck engines. We're very familiar with it. It's an important business with us over all," Oberhelman said.
The Truckers Pride Truck Beauty Contest includes and antique truck category and a People's Choice Award, voted on by all attendees.
The show runs through Saturday.
