Change150 investigation finds inconsistencies in District 150 disciplinary actions

PEORIA, Ill. -- Change150 officials say they conducted their own research and discovered some inconsistencies with discipline action related ISAT testing protocol within District 150.

The group did some investigating and found this is not the first time the district has dealt with employees not following proper ISAT testing procedures.

We were given a copy of a FOIA request regarding several incidents from 2012.

In that year, the principal at Harrison Community Learning Center was given a written warning for not properly training her staff on ISAT testing procedures.

A teacher at that same school was given a verbal warning after she admitted to reading questions in Spanish to students who didn't understand.

A teacher at Lincoln school also got a four day suspension for pointing and whispering about answers and changing answers on the tests.

If you recall, John Wetteraurer was removed from Charter Oak after the district discovered ISAT testing irregularities.

Two teachers from Charter Oak School were reassigned and two others received verbal warnings.

Parents and the community think there needs to be a set policy for situations like this.

“That raises a lot of questions,” said Dan Dugal, V.P. of Change150. “Why treat John Wetterauer at Charter Oak very differently then other principals and other educators that have been treated for similar or even worse offensives previously in the district?”

A spokesperson for the district said disciplinary action is between that person and the board of education and all of the facts are considered before a decision is made.

We will have a full report on the Change150 rally tonight on News 25 Nightside and HOI 19 News at 10.
