Chicago Cubs donate to tornado victims

PEORIA, Ill -- The Chicago Cubs organization is making a big donation and showing support to the tornado victims.

Friday afternoon representatives with the Cubs delivered a semi trailer full of items to Brewer's Distributing. Brewer's is accepting donation for the Red Cross.

The Cubs donation included totes, gloves, rakes, shovels and food.

They also sent well wishes to not just the Cubs fans, but all the tornado victims in Central Illinois.

"Everybody in Chicago and with the Cubs organization is thinking of you guys and wishing everything for a great Christmas and holiday season and hoping that everybody gets back on their feet soon," said Abby Silverman, Community Events Coordinator with the Chicago Cubs.

Brewer's Distributing off Allen Road in Peoria will accept donations Saturday 8 am -1 pm and Sunday 3 pm - 5 pm. Next week will be by appointment only. After that, they will be accepting donations every Monday 8 am - 4 pm.

The Red Cross will the distribute the items as needed.
