CHICAGO, Ill -- Chicago police are still trying to find the person responsible for a weekend hit-and-run that killed a Peoria native.

Shane Stokowski, 33, died Saturday after he was hit by a black SUV in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago.

Police believe the vehicle likely has front end damage, but do not have further information.

"Some people said that the man who was hit might know the person or was at least trying to stop them from driving because they were drunk driving," said West Town resident Aaron Pendleton.

Stokowski worked for a company called Emmi Solutions.

Its co-founder described him as an incredibly talented and creative soul, who was as nice a guy as you could imagine--always upbeat.
