CHICAGO -- Chicago has made it to the top of a nationally ranked list, but this is one achievement the city could probably do without.

The city moved up from number two in 2012 to first place in 2013 for top bed bugs cities, according to popular exterminator Orkin's website.

“Based on the diversity of cities on the list, we all need to be very cautious when we travel—whether it is business or pleasure, or to visit family, friends or vacation," said Orkin Entomologist and Technical Services Director Ron Harrison, Ph.D. "We need to be vigilant wherever we are and take the proper precautions.”

Every year, Orkin ranks the top 50 cities with the highest bed bug populations.
