PEORIA, Ill -- Peoria's newest restaurant, Chipotle, opened Wednesday.

Chipotle is located on Sterling Avenue near Northwoods mall and the new Chick-Fil-A.

During its grand opening event Wednesday, General Manager Heather Celis said employees served about 100 people per hour.

Celis said it's the quality of the food that keeps people coming back, "They just love the fresh food. We do everything fresh. All of our vegetables come in whole and all of our meat is never frozen so it's awesome that people are recognizing that by the taste of the food."

Some customers we spoke with agree.

"I guess I've never really had authentic Mexican food so I'm just going to assume that this is. It's just good. It's better than what you can get at a fast-food joint," said East Peoria resident JD Armes.

Peoria resident Vikas Sheth said, "The taste is so authentic and every time you come in it's so fresh. I like the freshness the most actually."

The new store employees 30 people.

Chipotle is open 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., 7 days a week.
