PEORIA, Ill.-- A local church opened its doors this weekend after a big renovation.

Northwoods Church in Peoria revealed its 12 million dollar expansion to the public.

Improvements include balconies in the main auditorium which now hold 3,000 people, a prayer tower and a chapel for weddings and small events.

The student room now has a café with meeting areas, a balcony with game rooms and a stage.

A celebration included performances by singer Mandisa at all services.

Church officials say donations by its members funded the project.
