PEORIA, Ill. --CityLink is taking, what it calls "the first step in a long process" of possibly creating a new north side transfer zone.

The mass transit district held an open house for the public Wednesday evening to get input on a new center.

There used to be one at the Northwoods Mall.

CityLink officials said they are just beginning to act on the proposal.

Marketing and Public Relations Director Anna Buehrer said no location for the transfer zone is even under consideration at this point.

"Some of our busiest routes are in this quadrant of the city, because it's where the commercial activity is. And so we do have a lot of riders that come in and out of this area, not only for work, but for shopping, and you know, just everyday life," she said.

Buehrer also said a decision on a new transfer zone is at least one year away.
