PEORIA, Ill -- New buses will soon be serving CityLink customers throughout the River City.

CityLink General Manager Tom Lucek and General Foreman Ron Cox visited the Gillig factory in Hayward, California on Monday to see the final bus of the 46 new buses ordered by the company roll off the factory line.

The bus was in the final stages of assembly when Lucek and Cox visited the plant.

“The assembly of the buses in the final stages of production is quite an operation to see,” said Lucek in a Monday press release. “It is also helpful for our maintenance staff to watch the process and get a firsthand look at all of the components that make up these top-of-the-line buses.”

CityLink says that of the last 15 buses scheduled for production, 12 are already on site at CityLink’s facility on NE Jefferson, waiting to be put into operation.

These final 15 buses bring the total of new buses purchased by CityLink over the past 18 months to 46. The purchase of the buses was made possible through a combination of federal, state, and local funds.
