PEORIA, Ill -- The largest home show in the Heart of Illinois is sharing new ideas, innovations and products for your home.
Whether you are looking to make some indoor changes or some outdoor changes to your home, the Official Spring Home Show at the Peoria Civic Center is the place to be this weekend.
And for local businesses, it's a chance to be seen.
Owner of Sunrise Roofing Brian Johnson has been bringin' in the business from the home show for the past 4 years.
"Each year our business seems to grow," said Brian Johnson, owner of Sunrise Roofing. "We get a lot of great leads from the show."
Johnson says sometimes his best salesperson is a previous customer.
"Low and behold a past customer will walk by as we're talking to a new prospect and usually give a great report for us," said Johnson.
With more than 225 companies filling up 450 booths, visitors are bound to pick up some new ideas and innovations.
And even if you think you know what you are looking for...
"I see different counter tops and backdrops and things like that," said Karen Meidroth of Peoria. "I'm looking to redo my basement so I'm looking for things like that."
You might find something you didn't expect to see. That's why Summer Winds Resort in Branson stuck a chance to win a free car right in the middle of the home show.
"It does catch people a little off guard because they're focused on fixing their home or building a home," said Marla Frazier, of the Summer Winds Resort in Branson, MO.
Marketer Marla Frazier says the car gets people's attention and helps them think of getting away from the stress of working on a home.
"It's neat to take a break from all that and think about going somewhere for fun," said Frazier.
But those who have been coming to the home show for many years can vouch that this is a place for businesses to grow.
"It's like really good advertising," said Meidroth. "They get out in the public's eye where normally you don't see specific places and here everybody's all in one spot."
Which makes it easy for customers to one stop shop for everything that makes them feel more at home.
The Spring Home Show continues Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Peoria Civic Center.
Admission is $7 for adults (18+), half price for seniors (60+), and kids nder 18 are free.
