PEORIA, Ill -- Authorities are investigating an early Monday morning shooting near a Peoria club which resulted in the death of a Peoria man.

Police were already on the scene at Club Apollo on Southwest Jefferson just after 3 a.m.

Police say there was a trouble call at the club where the victim had been.

Officers then reported to shots fired in the area.

They found 23-year-old Robreco King on the 400 blk. of New Street.

He had been shot multiple times.

King was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where the coroner says he was pronounced dead.

"This gives us a total of seven for the year," according to Captain Mike Scally. "Starting tomorrow, we're putting additional officers on the street. You're probably going to refer to it as a 'Don't Shoot Task-Force,' and hopefully those officers are going to have an impact with what's going on out there today."

The shooting of Robreco King is under investigation.

Captain Scally urges anyone with information to call the Peoria Police at 673-4521.
