Bradley move-in to cause headaches for drivers

August 23, 2013 Updated Aug 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM CDT

PEORIA, Ill. -- Students will return to Bradley's campus this weekend, which means traffic headaches for local drivers.

Considerable delays should be expected on University Avenue in Peoria between Interstate 74 and campus between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday as students move in to their home away from home.
Elmwood Avenue at Main Street, St. James Street at University, Bradley Avenue at Institute Plaza, and Bradley at Duryea all will close at 7 a.m. Saturday. The majority of busy activity is predicted to be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On both Friday and Saturday, the Peoria Charter Bus route will be moved to the front of Baker Hall (on Main St. and Institute), instead of the Michel Student Center.
Fredonia Avenue from Duryea to Glenwood will close at 3 p.m. on Sunday for a block party scheduled to take place later that evening. The Heuser Art Center parking lot will be closed all day Sunday.
Classes at Bradley start August 28.
