PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Friendship House held a community health fair on Saturday, providing free services to area residents in need.
People received free blood pressure readings along with eye and breast exams.
The Friendship House sits in a largely Hispanic neighborhood, and translators were on hand to help patients communicate with doctors.
Organizers said it is crucial to take advantage of the free opportunity.
"Last year, when he had the mammogram here, we did have two woman get detected with breast cancer. So we were able to get them services to be able to avoid more problems. If they would have waited longer it would have effected them," said Sandy Arreguin, the Latinos United Director.
The health fair is currently in its sixth year.
