SUNNYLAND, Ill. -- Area residents are doing their part to restore the community's faith. Sunday, they joined together outside to light candles for tornado victims.

One supporter said there were even candles glowing in Florida.

The idea of the vigil was to extend a line of light from Pekin to Washington.
"We're doing this to show that even though we weren't affected by this emotionally, we're still affected by it. We've got warm hearts and we're thinking of them. We're just going to line Route 8," said Malynda Smith, Sunnyland Resident.
The event started on Facebook and quickly gathered support.
Organizers said they will be outside again next Sunday.
