PEORIA, Ill -- Two Peoria teenagers achieved the rank of Eagle Scout Sunday afternoon after implementing community impact projects.
Deveraux Hubbard and Jamal Dabbs completed a total of 179 hours of community service with their projects.
Thanks to the two young men, area youths were supplied with books and school supplies as well as a basketball tournament.
Both Eagle Scouts say it was important for them to influence others to reach Eagle status.
"It feels great," said Hubbard. "I worked hard for it and put in a lot of work and dedication to being ion the troop and help the troop grow, so it really feels good."
"Just keep knowing that when you get here it will feel really good and that it's worth the want," Dabbs suggested to other scouts.
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
