LOGAN COUNTY, Ill. -- Convicted murdered Christopher Harris is set for sentencing Friday in Logan County court but not before the trial judge makes a ruling on a request for a new trial.

Harris, 34, was convicted in May of first degree murder in the deaths of Rick Gee, Ruth Gee and their three children; Justina Constant, Dillen Constant and Austin Gee.

All five were viciously beaten to death with a tire iron in their Beason home during the early hours of September 21, 2009.

Harris was also convicted of the attempted murder of Tabitha Gee, as well as aggravated battery of a child, home invasion and armed robbery.

Tabitha, who was only 3 years old at the time of the attack, suffered severe head injuries.

Harris faces a mandatory life sentence for his crimes.

Harris' lawyers have asked for a new trial. They argue that several rulings by Judge Scott Drazewski denied Harris a fair trial.

The judge will rule on those motions before the sentencing hearing in Lincoln.

Jason Harris, who testified against his brother, will plead guilty to Concealment of a Homicidal Death and Obstruction of Justice, which carries a 20 year prison term.
