NORMAL, Ill. -- There's a carnival atmosphere in Uptown Normal the weekend of the 25th. That's the site of the annual Sweet Corn Blues Festival.

There are rides, games and live entertainment and of course, 20 tons of fresh sweet corn.

In fact, the winner of the sweet corn eating contest gets a $50 gift card to the Uptown Normal Business of their choice.

"This is a standard and has been for years," said Angie Stewart while standing in line for fresh corn. I've been coming here for 35 years and get corn every year. I come out and support the Boy Scouts and help them shuck a little bit."

Returning Illinois State University students get special treatment at the Sweet Corn Blues Festival. If they present their school ID, they get one free ear of corn.
