Coroner's jury rules infant's death a homicide

EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- A coroner's jury has ruled the death of a 4-month-old East Peoria girl as homicide.

Aspen Elise Neal was found unresponsive on the floor of an East Peoria apartment on January 3.

An autopsy showed she died of suffocation.

Investigators said the girlfriend of the baby's father was the only adult in the apartment at the time and found the little girl.

According to News Radio 1470, police are investigating whether a crime was committed.
