WHITESIDE COUNTY, Ill. – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources confirms a Cougar was found on a farm near Morrison in Whiteside County.

A conservation officer was called to the farm on November 20 after the owner reported seeing a large cat exiting a corn field, running toward the home and buildings.

The cougar was found in a concrete tunnel beneath a corn crib on the farm.

IDNR officers euthanized the animal. The cougar was 5.5 to 6 feet in length and appeared to weigh more than 100 pounds.
