Cyber Security Seminar for Senior Citizens

April 12, 2011 Updated Apr 18, 2011 at 11:42 AM CDT

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Web Tech Services in East Peoria are teaming up to offer Peoria area senior citizens a free cyber security seminar.

The seminar, entitled "Connect and Protect", will instruct attendees how to take preventative measures against email and text message scams and avoiding identity theft.

Web Tech owner Tammy Finch along with other area youth volunteers will lead the seminar.

RSVP and Web Tech Services say they hope to increase awareness of technology safety among area senior citizens as well as present them with the resources to protect themselves against exploitation.

"Connect and Protect" will take place at the Peoria Public Library's RiverWest branch at 312 S. Merriman on April 21, at 1:30 pm.

Refreshments will be provided.

More information about RSVP and Web Tech Services can be found at www.rsvpvolunteers.org and http://webtechservices.com.
