ILLINOIS -- Arrests for driving under the influence increased nearly 40-percent in Peoria in 20-12, compared to the previous year.
That's according to a survey conducted by the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists.
The group says 426 people were arrested in Peoria for DUI last year.
Springfield and Decatur joined Peoria in the top five of the list, which excludes Chicago's more than 3,000 arrests.
DUI arrests were also up in the Town of Normal. Police there reported 322 arrests last year, an almost 10 percent increase from 2011.
The survey is funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
