BLOOMINGTON Ill -- 65 mile per hour winds had many Bloomington residents along Illinois Route 9 in fear for the worst Thursday night.

"It just came all of a sudden. It got louder and louder. So I grabbed my dogs, and I ran down stairs. I was thinking maybe it's a tornado," said local resident, Andrea Kurth.

"I looked through the window and all the water started going around and around. And then we went underneath the desk. I had like five people in there. Thank god we're all okay," said owner of Los Amigos Auto Service, Rolando Alarcon.

Roof tops were torn off, cars were damaged, and giant-sized hail destroyed sidings of homes.

But officials don't believe a tornado caused the damage.

"I see what looks like a straight line wind damage. You can see the building up here is rolled up and damaged and it just kind of follows a pattern up here. The walls down there, that building is rolled up, and the edge of that building is rolled up. You look at the grass fields, they are laid down in one area," said McLean County Emergency Management Director, Curtis Hawk.

No injuries have been reported, but emergency crews continue to patrol the area in search of anyone trapped in collapsed buildings.

Kurth, who's home suffered minor damages, said she's lucky she made it out okay.

"I think were pretty luck actually. the damage is just kind of isolated to this side. Where as I feel like the whole roof could have been ripped off."

While Los Amigos Auto Service, located directly behind Kurth, got hit the worst.

"We had customers' cars in there that had their windshields damaged. It's just going to be a lot of damage," said Alarcon.

Damage assessment teams will continue to look at how much destruction was done tomorrow.

The American Red Cross added relief by sending 8 volunteers to provide relief to the 100 emergency personnel at the scene.
