MORTON, Ill. -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Rutherford was in Morton on Thursday handing out yard signs to his supporters.

Rutherford admitted it was a little cold for the signs to go up right, but said Thursday's session also allowed Morton residents to ask questions about the issues.

During the recent debates of the four GOP candidates for Governor, Rutherford has generally refrained from directly attacking his opponents.

The exception was when Bruce Rauner said Rutherford had taken money from unions.

"But I will not, repeat, I will not let any candidate represent a misfact," he said. "To use my name and make statements that are inaccurate, I'm going to correct them...period."

All four GOP candidates will be in Peoria for a 90 minute debate at the WTVP studios on Thursday night.

It is sponsored by Illinois Public Broadcasters and the League of Women Voters.
