PEORIA, Ill. -- A potentially dangerous situation is spurring a proposal to change traffic flow near a local school.
The problem is in the 1600 block of West Fredonia near Whitter Primary School. It's a two-way street, but school personnel put up temporary signs changing it to a one-way street during the morning and afternoon rush.
The City of Peoria says that is unsafe and inefficient. So, it's proposing to permanently change the 1600 block to a one-way street heading west.
Some neighbors are in favor of the change but say parking must stay the same with so many Bradley students living in the area.
"There's 5 or 6 kids in each of these houses with all of them having cars and we don't have driveways in every house or garages in the back in the alley, so the main spot to park is on the street," said neighbor Charles Caldwell.
A public meeting on the proposed change will be held at Whitter Primary School on Wednesday, January 30.
