PEORIA, Ill. -- No, it's not an illusion. Famed magician David Copperfield was in Peoria on Monday.

Copperfield is safe after his airplane was forced to make an emergency landing at Byerly Aviation in Bartonville. Airport officials say the landing happened at around 2:30 Monday morning.

We were able to catch up with Copperfield, where he described what happened.

"We made a emergency landing here in Peoria on the way to do the Today Show," Copperfield said. "We were up in a private plane flying to New York and we heard this sound at 37,000 feet and it was very frightening for us, so we decided to land. we spiral landed in slowly and we are right here."

Instead of flying to the Today Show in New York, Copperfield made his appearance via Skype.

The magician then had to fly back to Las Vegas for two performances.
