Deadline for federal aid for flood damage quickly approaching

PEORIA, Ill. -- Flooding accounts for more than 90 percent of declared disasters in Illinois.

April's historic flooding affected 47 counties.

To date, more than 3,500 flood insurance claims have been filed for the April 16 to May 5 flooding event and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved more than $129 million in federal aid to uninsured residents.

Registration for flood assistance is still open, the FEMA staff will host a registration drive in Putnam County.

The staff will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. inside the McNabb Fire Station. You can also register online, or by phone at 1-800-621-FEMA

The deadline to register for April Flood assistance is July 24.
