Department of Transportation unveils new distracted driving campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S. Department of Transportation is trying to crack down on texting and driving.

They are launching a national distracted driving awareness month.

The campaign comes with a new ad that warns of the dangers of distracted driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that more than 3,000 people were killed in distraction related crashes in 2012.
